Half Deaf Clatch and his Butcher’s Block Stomp Box

Half Deaf Clatch gave a very good performance at last night’s Newcastle heat of The New Brunswick Battle of the Blues, even though he didn’t get through to the final or the runner up video vote.
Many folks were impressed by his performance and his stompbox (pictured above) was the subject of much discussion. It is a butcher’s block about 20 years old. The mics are tuned tom mics to cut out high frequencies and they go through a shark DSP DI box with a compressor and gate setting and notched out feedback frequency filters. And there’s two because it looks cooler! (and you don’t have to turn the gain right up for big volume).
Go check out Half Deaf’s music at bandcamp – for free – and tell him i sent ya!
I’ve asked Half Deaf to be a guest on the Blues Show too.
