God Bless Thee Jackie Maddison

In 1972 & 1973, as I’ve discussed previously here, I was a professional musician in a 5 piece band called March Hare. As we had some auditions for TV talent shows, (Opportunity Knocks, New Faces), we needed to join either Equity (The Actors’ Union) or The Musician’s Union. Derrick Rowbotham (on the left) and I (yes, that’s me on the right!) joined Equity which meant that we got called for some extras roles in local TV shows. This still is from a TV play written by northern playwright Tom Haddaway called God Bless Thee Jackie Maddison. I remember we got paid £7.50 for going up and having a costume fitting and another £15 for the day’s work. Pretty good money in 1973!
