Grosh Guitars – Tie Dye

I saw WT Feaster at the Cluny, Newcastle on Saturday (I’ll be posting some video soon) and was very taken by his guitar sound. I’m going to e-mail Travis some questions about his live set up, but I do know he uses Don Grosh guitars (though I’m not sure which model). I’m very taken, as you might expect, by this tie dye beauty. Even though it is in the “cheaper” Retro Classic range, it still comes in at a tad under $3000. Ulp!

There are some fabulous looking guitars there, with all of the usual shapes and a couple of unusual ones too.

This One Goes Up To Eleven – Politician

Daniel Johnson, guitar & vocals
Rev.Aaron Johnson, bass
Malcolm Dick, drums

I caught these guys at The Turbinia in Newton Aycliffe last week – I was very impressed.
None of 3 drummers that they use were available, so they got in touch with Malcolm, and he played a blinder of a gig without any rehearsal – some of the best drumming I’ve ever seen. Next month he is playing drums on Ritchie Blackmore’s European Tour.

There’s more from these guys at my YouTube channel.

Wilko Johnson/Oil City Confidential competition

Wilko Johnson (Dr. Feelgood, The Blockheads) is playing at Shildon Civic Hall on September 10th. Tickets are £10 in advance or £15 on the door and are selling very well.

However, here’s a chance to win not only 2 tickets for the gig, but also a copy of the newly released DVD of Oil City Confidential – the story of Dr. Feelgood and Canvey Island. This is a magnificent movie!

I’ll be running a competition on The Blues Show on Bishop FM 105.9 on Sunday 29th August and Sunday 5th September. There’ll be 2 questions to answer and the first name drawn from the Blues Show Hat on Sunday 5th September will win the prize of the tickets and DVD.

There’s also a second prize of some blues CDs.

So, to be in with a chance of winning these prizes, tune in to The Blues Show on Sunday 6-8pm – don’t forget you can now listen online too!
