There are many sites and blogs out there that offer guitar lessons – some are free, some are subscription only. Some have video, some have tab. Some are good, some aren’t. I can’t claim to have been to many of them at all, but when I visited Village Guitar Studio, I felt quite at home – partly because the lesson I saw was about triads, and that reminded me of the last proper guitar lesson I had which was about – yes, triads. I even remembered what they were!
So I’ll be adding Village Guitar Studio to my blogroll and will be a frequent visitor – hey, my playing should improve if I follow all of these lessons from Roger. Check it out.
For a while we’ve been trying to be a little more healthy than usual – though we haven’t grasped the idea of exercise with both hands just yet, we have been having some of this beetroot juice. We’ve tried a couple of brands – they are all expensive – and this is the only one that is produced in England – and is about the cheapest of them all too. It also tastes delicious. We only have a glass every other day, but apparently the health benefits should be good:
Beetroot juice is particularly high in natural dietary nitrates, as well as being both easy to consume and delicious in taste.
We are thinking about planting a load ourselves and getting a juicer.

Although BishopFM’s move to new premises means we can’t have guests playing live in the studio, I will be joined by Russ Tippins next Sunday, on The Blues Show, from 6-8pm. We’ll play some tracks from The Russ Tippins Band’s new CD “Electrickery” and hopefully Russ will give us some insight into his influences, the songwriting process and much more.
The CD is a collection of (mainly) self written songs, most of them with a blues flavour and all of them played really well by the 3 piece band. Not only are the songs great, but the playing is excellent – Russ is a seasoned performer and his guitar playing on this album is very very good.
If you’re interested, you can go to the band’s website and hear some samples from the album. or you can tune in next week and hear lots of tracks in full, with the added bonus of Russ’ comments and stories.
After some sterling fundraising by my BishopFm colleagues – including a sponsored 26 mile walk, we are now streaming online. You can either go to the Bishopfm website and look at the top right hand corner of the page – it says “Listen live to 105.9 BishopFM Online” or click on this link – that should open up the stream in whatever program you’re using – iTunes. Windows Media Player, etc.
Welcome to all our new listeners from all around the world – and welcome back to those international Blues Show listeners who used to listen – I’ve missed ya! Tune in, dial in, stream in from 6-8pm on Sunday 18th July – and if you do, send me an email to email@example.com
Stream using the doobrie below or d’load from here.
Here’s a good looking poster for a great looking local blues festival taking place this summer. I feel a BishopFM Blues Show Road Trip coming on.
