Lee Ritenour is one of those guitar players, to me at least, who has always been around, playing tasteful solos on other people’s CDs, (Steely Dan, Pink Floyd and many more) and now and then releasing solo albums of even more tasteful stuff.
Here’s a new album that is due out at the end of this month and Ritenour has gathered together a plethora of top class guitarists. What interests and pleases me is that he hasn’t just gone for the famous guitar players (Slash, Steve Lukather, BB King, Keb Mo, Joe Bonamassa to name just a few) – he’s also obviously been keeping an eye on up and coming guitar players from around the world – including the UK. He’s included Guthrie Govan and Andy McKee, as well as 2 young competition winners (Joe Robinson, Australia’s Got Talent and Shon Boublil – Yamaha 6 String Theory winner).
There’s some videos here, and I hope to be able to bring you a full review of the album soon.
