Blues Show guests – cancelled

UPDATE: Due to adverse weather conditions Lee & Billy won’t be appearing on Monday’s show. Instead I’ll play some tracks from their CD and will rearrange a date in the next month or so.

On next week’s show (Monday night, 7-9pm UK, I’ll be joined by Lee Bates and Billy Newton, a guitar and blues harp duo. They sent me their CD and it is great. Tune in for a treat!

Handmade Cajon

My friend and bandmate David has just got one of these – it has real drum snares in the top left hand corner (as we look at it.) The player sits on it and can then use hands to get a fair representation of bass drum, snare and other percussion sounds. There’s a soundhole in the back. Very handy for acoustic sessions – I’m sure we’ll be hearing it at some Tri gigs.

The cajon was handmade by musician Dave Tighe who has a webpage here and a myspace here. Some nice music to listen to.

Reunion Blues Tour Guide

A great idea, but obviously not many (or any) places (yet) between London and Ashington. I like the sound of Betty’s Rock Bar – must get a gig there when Big G tour the US

“a new web site to help touring bands find recommended places to eat,
hang out and crash for the night while out on the road. It’s also a way
for musicians to find venues to perform… and even offers a free link to
the band’s sound clips, photos and web sites which helps generate
exposure for their music
